a few tips…
When we taste tested this dip it was absolutely delicious. However, there was some feedback that it could have a deeper chocolate flavor. To achieve this, you can use a dark chocolate syrup, like Hershey’s special dark, instead of the fudge sauce that we used. You can also use a dark chocolate cocoa brand instead of the more milky brand that we used. You could also add a little more cocoa mix to the dip. If it seems a little thick, just add a splash of milk at a time while mixing to get it to the consistency that you like.
what to serve with your hot cocoa dip
You can serve this creamy chocolate dip with just about anything sweet. Our favorite thing to eat with it was shortbread cookies. We also enjoyed graham crackers and even large marshmallows. I wonder what chocolate wafers would taste like…chocolate on top of chocolate…yum!
how to customize this dip
Everyone likes something different to make their cocoa extra special. This hot cocoa dip is the same. There’s already some marshmallow in the mix, but you can never have too many marshmallows. We added some mini marshmallows. You could even get special ones that are shaped for various holidays. Some classic go tos are peppermint, sprinkles, chocolate chips, or whipped cream. Now it’s time to make it your own!
how to make this into a valentine treat
It was so simple to make this into a Valentine’s Day treat. First we chose a simple heart shaped container to hold this dip, like this one. We used a heart shaped cookie cutter to then create a form to place some crushed peppermint inside for a heart embellishment. You could also place little heart candies on top or even Red Hots or try some Valentine sprinkles to finish it off.

do we have a preferred cream cheese brand?
Yes!!! I understand that this is a personal preference, but I always use Philadelphia cream cheese (even though Philly is our sports rival here in Pittsburgh). There’s just something about the taste. That being said, any cream cheese brand will work just fine. So, stick with your favorite brand when making this dip.
