The only thing better than a sweet and crunchy cannoli after a good meal is this amazing creamy cannoli dip. It’s the perfect finish that you’re going to want to go back to over and over again. One of the best things about it is how quickly it goes together, with no cooking needed.

Now let’s get right to the good stuff…

- 8 oz. package cream cheese-softened
- ½ cup ricotta cheese
- splash cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar (plus 1 Tbsp for dusting)
- Dark chocolate fudge syrup
- ½ cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips or crushed pistachios
ingredients and substitutions information:
- Cream cheese: We prefer using Philly brand cream cheese for this dip. If you haven’t had a chance to leave it out to soften, just pop it in the microwave for about 20 to 30 seconds. You can also replace the cream cheese with mascarpone using the same measurements.
- Ricotta cheese: Do not skip the ricotta cheese. It’s responsible for giving the dip the classic cannoli flavoring. Use your favorite brand.
- Milk: The milk is included in this recipe to reach the desired consistency. We used 2% milk, but you can feel free to replace it with a plant-based alternative.
- Vanilla: A quality vanilla really does elevate any recipe. Skip the imitation and use a vanilla extract.
- Dark chocolate fudge syrup: There are lots of options for fudge syrup, but we always go back to our favorite Hershey’s Special Dark Syrup.
instructions:
Stick around to the end for a few more tips.
- With a hand blender, mix together cream cheese, ricotta cheese, and vanilla.
- Then slowly mix in the powdered sugar, adding a splash of milk as needed, until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the mixture into the bottom of a deep pie dish.
- Drizzle the fudge sauce on top.
- Choose your favorite cannoli compliment and sprinkle on mini chocolate chips or crushed pistachios.
- Dust with powdered sugar.

my recipe tips
We chose to use pistachios to top this cannoli dip since it is an ingredient often used for the classic dessert. They have a beautiful color. However, my personal preference for taste is the to add the mini chocolate chips instead. You should choose your favorite or go with something totally out of the box, like mini candies, crushed cookies or cereal, such as Fruity pebbles.

🍽️ serving ideas
The ultimate thing to serve with this cannoli dip is, of course, cannoli chips. So, we went to Amazon and grabbed these chips. Though they were good, they didn’t ship well and came mostly broken and unusable. If you can find these in your local grocery store, you may have better luck.
Some other ideas for serving with this Italian dessert inspired dip are homemade cannoli chips, chocolate wafer cookies, shortbread cookies or strawberries.
do we have a preferred cream cheese brand?
Yes!!! I understand that this is a personal preference, but I always use Philadelphia cream cheese (even though Philly is our sports rival here in Pittsburgh). There’s just something about the taste. That being said, any cream cheese brand will work just fine. So, stick with your favorite brand when making this dip.

recipe notes
- Tips: Check out my recipe tips above to help you get the best results for this super yummy dip.
- Storage: Keep leftovers (if you even have any) covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as it may affect the texture.
- Dip prep: You can make the base of this dip ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge overnight. the flavors get even better with some time. For best results, add the fudge sauce and other toppings just before serving.
