  1. Turn dinner into an even with some simple seasonal decorations. It doesn’t take much. Just grab some party plates and napkins, a simple centerpiece, some balloons or whatever you might already have on hand. We love these easy to assemble balloon arches. They give a big bang for your buck.
  2. Take a family selfie. This is such a fun way to keep a record of family time. Kids love to have their pictures taken (most of the time).
  3. Do it on a night when everyone can be at the table. We’re rushing about so much that’s it can be rare to have a night were everyone can sit together to eat. Make this a truly inclusive experience. This is also a great time to invite the grandfolks over for the festivities.
  4. Get the kids involved with the prep. We’re always more invested in something that we had a part in. Have them do some of the mixing or preparing the dippers on trays.
  5. Play some music. Choose some upbeat music that everyone can enjoy can enjoy. Start the playlist during prep and keep it going throughout the meal. Just turn it down a bit so that you can still have conversation.
  6. Speaking of conversation, use these fun family conversation starters. Good food, music, a festive environment is the perfect set up for some real sharing and laughs.
