  • 1 to 2 packages 5.3 oz garlic and fine herbs Boursin spread
  • Apricot or peach jam
  • Honey roasted pecan pieces
  • Apricot (fresh or dried) or peach to match jam chosen
  • Honey

ingredient information:

  • Boursin: There are several flavors to choose from for this soft, creamy cheese. We chose the garlic and fine herbs because the flavors pair so well with our other ingredients without fighting them for attention. You can use one package as an appetizer, but for the dip to go a little farther go with 2. For a party, you might even want to buy it by the case.
  • Apricot jam: The sweetness and color of this apricot jam works perfectly for this pairing, but you can also use peach marmalade. My original plan was to use peach, but you can’t get anything peachy in western PA during the winter months. So, I went with what I had on hand, and I was not disappointed. Whatever you choose, give it a quick mix to break up the pectin so that it spreads smoothly.
  • Apricot fruit: For this recipe, we’re using this ingredient to add both a garnish, more flavor, and some additional texture. To do this use dried or fresh apricots chopped in little bits or go with slices that are grilled like I did. Honestly, I was impressed with the look of the grilled fruit on top of the dip. It really elevated the aesthetics. Pop to the end and read the tips to find out how we prepared the fruit as pictured. Just like the jam, you can change out the apricots for other fruit like peaches or nectarines.
  • Honey roasted pecans: We chose to skip the prep and buy our honey roasted pecans HERE. It’s a big enough bag to use for several recipes. But if you enjoy the process and want to make your own, this recipe from Cooking with Carlee is just the thing.
  • Honey: We love using local honey from the farmer’s market when it’s available, but we live in PA where the farmer’s markers are seasonal. So we just grab whatever’s at the grocery store. I love the extra flavor and a bit of glisten that it adds to any dip. To top off your dip, you can also opt for hot honey instead.

instructions:

Stick around to the end, and I’ll tell you how to prepare some grilled fruit for the topper.

  1. On a small platter or plate, spread the Boursin evenly.
  2. To the top of the Boursin, spoon on a layer of your choice of jam.
  3. Dice apricots or peach (depending on what jam you chose) and place on top of the Boursin. You can grill the fruit first if desired.
  4. Top it with some honey roasted pecan pieces.
  5. Drizzle with honey or hot honey.

my recipe tips

  • Citric twist: Instead of a sweet flavor profile with apricots or peaches, turn to a more citric flavor profile with some orange marmalade. Instead of grilled fruit, top it with some orange segments. Everything else in the recipe will remain the same.
  • Berry it up: Instead of a sweet flavor profile with apricots or peaches, turn to berries instead. Use a berry jam or compote and bits of diced strawberries or whole raspberries, blackberries and blueberries on top. Garnish with the honey roasted pecans and honey also.
  • Date night dip: This is the kind of dip that I like to create for a cozy night in with the hubby. The serving size is small, and it’s a light dip that we can enjoy without guilt that we’ll regret the calories the next day. Pair it with your favorite drink and a good movie, and you have the perfect date night in.
  • A bit of bacon: The only thing that might make this amazing starter even better is a bit of bacon for some savory and salty flavor. In my opinion, bacon makes almost everything better. Use premade real bacon bits, or (my favorite) cook a few strips of bacon to crispy and crumble them.

🍽️ serving ideas

There are lots of things that you can dip into this delicious Boursin & jam dip, but our favorite is some toasted crusty garlic bread. I have the perfect recipe that you can check out HERE. You can also just use chunks of store made toasties, bagel chips, cinnamon sugar chips or simply crackers. If you want a healthier version, use fruit like piece slices.

If you’re having a get together with lots of appetizers, this dip recipe is great alongside this chocolate covered strawberry dip or this baked charcuterie dip. Then there will be a little something for everyone.

how to prepare grilled fruit

For this recipe choose a fruit that pairs well with your jam and is in season. We used apricot jam and chose nectarines for grilling. The flavor profiles are very similar. Slice your fruit into slices about 1/2 thick. You can literally cook them on a grill on low with close supervision so that they don’t burn. I chose to cook mine on the stovetop in a non-stick pan.

Start with a drizzle of olive oil in your pan and place the pan over a medium heat. Give the oil a minute to heat up and then add the fruit to your pan. Once it is browned on one side (about 1 to 2 minutes), flip it to the other side and let it brown. This process moves very quickly, so start vigilant. Then remove it from the pan and allow it to cool slightly before adding as a finishing to touch to your Boursin and jam dip to create a simple yet impressive appetizer that your guests will love.

the perfect serving platter

I was fortunate to have the perfect serving platter on hand for this little treat. It was a find at our local Homegoods. recipe notes

  • Tips: Check out my recipe tips above to help you get the best results for this super yummy dip.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers (if you even have any) covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 to 5 days. I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as it may affect the texture.
  • Dip prep: You can prepare this dip an hour or two ahead of time, but I wouldn’t let it sit in the fridge overnight for best presentation.
