The Perfect Dipper Baked Sugar Pretzels Recipe

Spread the love

We’re all about dips here, but if you have dips you’re going to need amazing dippers too. These sugar pretzels are the perfect thing for sweet dips. You’re going to be surprised how super simple they are. What’s not surprising is how absolutely delicious they are! Even though they’re dippers, you’re going to want to just eat an entire pile of them all on their own.

  • 6 cups mini pretzels
  • 6 Tbsp butter (melted)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp cinnamon

SUPPLIES:

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

ingredient information:

  • Mini pretzels: Choose any brand of mini pretzel that you like. You can also swap these out for waffle pretzels.
  • Butter: I chose salted butter for this recipe because that’s what I had on hand. I don’t recommend swapping this out for margarine because of the change in flavor and how it will melt into the pretzels.
  • Granulated sugar: We used basic white sugar in this recipe, but you could also swap it out for some brown sugar in a 1:1 ratio.

instructions:

Stick around to the end, and I’ll tell you the best dips to serve these with.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. If using the cinnamon, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Place the pretzels in a large mixing bowl and coat with the melted butter.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar (and cinnamon) over the pretzels and mix until well coated. You may want to do this in halves.
  5. Prepare a lined baking sheet (with sides) and pour the pretzels onto the sheet, along with any extra sugar on top of the pretzels.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, stir occasionally so that pretzels bake evenly.
  7. Allow them to cool before storing in an air-tight container or Ziploc bag.

my recipe tips

  • Don’t do this: It’s easier to overbake these pretzels because when you get to about 15 minutes they still look “wet”. That is to be expected because after you pull them out and let the pretzels sit for a few minutes, the sugar will harden onto the pretzels like a toffee. If they start to turn a dark brown, you’ve gone too far.

🍽️ serving ideas

There are lots of things that you can dip these sugar pretzels into, but our favorite is some this strawberry pretzels salad dip. They were literally made for it. You can also pair them with this salted caramel dip or this tropical fruit dip.

You can also include them on a dessert charcuterie board or as part of a sweet trail mix to sweeten it up.

make it savory

This same recipe can be used to make your pretzels savory instead of sweet. To do this, stick to all of the ingredients and recipe instructions but swap out the sugar (and cinnamon if you’re using it) for a savory flavor. This might be garlic powder, dry Ranch mix, mustard powder, or finely grated parmesan cheese.
