- 8oz package cream cheese-softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup brownie pieces
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
ingredient information:
- Cream cheese: We prefer using Philadelphia brand cream cheese for this dip, though any brand will work. If you haven’t had a chance to leave it out to soften, just pop it in the microwave for about 20 to 30 seconds.
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips: Semi-sweet chips are a great choice for this dip. However, you can also choose milk chocolate or dark chocolate chips if that’s your preference.
- Coconut oil: Just a small amount of coconut oil helps to make the chocolate smooth and even glossy when it melts. You can subsitute this in equal parts with vegetable shortening.
- Brownie pieces: To keep things simple, I just grabbed the first premade brownies I saw on the grocery shelf, and they worked great. However, feel free to make your own from scratch for this recipe if that’s up your alley.
instructions:
Stick around to the end, and I’ll tell you how to best serve it.
- Place the cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 15-second intervals, mixing in between, until fully melted. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Pour heavy cream into a bowl and use an electric hand mixer to whip it into soft peaks. Set it aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar with the hand mixer until smooth.
- Mix in vanilla and melted chocolate.
- Fold in the whipped cream until well blended.
- Cut the prepared brownies into ¼ cubes.
- Gently mix in the brownie bites and mini chocolate chips, leaving a few for garnish.
- Transfer the brownie dip to a serving bowl and garnish with additional mini chocolate chips and brownie bits.

my recipe tips
- Keep it cool: When whipping the cream into peaks, the cream and bowl should be cold, otherwise it will not thicken properly. Trust me, I let the heavy cream warm a bit before getting around to using it, and I had to start over for that step once I cooled it down again.
- Don’t overwork it: Notice that after you first blend the chocolate into the mixture you should then switch to using a spatula or wooden spoon to fold in the whipped cream. Don’t overmix or you’ll lose some of the fluffy, creamy texture.
- Add some color: This dip is a lot of brown on brown. That’s just the nature of chocolate, and I’m fine with that. However, if you’d like to add a little color, just add some sprinkles or Sixlets candy to the top.

🍽️ serving ideas
There are lots of things that you can dip into this delicious chocolatey goodness. You could literally dip more brownies into this brownie dip, though our first choice was shortbread cookies. You could also use graham crackers, other types of cookies, marshmallows, or strawberries or other fruit.
If you’re having a get together with lots of appetizers, this dip recipe is great alongside this cannoli dip or this chocolate covered strawberries dip. This is a dessert buffet to be raved about.
do we have a preferred cream cheese brand?
Yes!!! I understand that this is a personal preference, but I always use Philadelphia cream cheese (even though Philly is our sports rival here in Pittsburgh). There’s just something about the taste. That being said, any cream cheese brand will work just fine. So, stick with your favorite brand when making this dip.

- Storage: Keep leftovers (if you even have any) covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 to 6 days. I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as it may affect the texture.
- Dip prep: You can prepare this dip ahead of time and keep it in the fridge. For best results, hold off on add the garnishes until time to serve.
