The Best Cookies and Milk Dip Recipe

Spread the love

I’m on a mission to turn all of my favorite foods into a yummy dip because dips just make life better. Of course, milk and cookies are on that list. This dip starts with a milky creamy sweet cream with crumbled cookies on top. Every bite is a special treat.

Now let’s get right to the good stuff…

how to make cookies & milk dip

  • 2 8 oz. packages cream cheese-softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Milk of your choice
  • 1 ½ cups cookies of your choice -crumbled

ingredient information:

  • Cream cheese: We prefer using Philadelphia brand cream cheese for this dip, though any brand will work. If you haven’t had a chance to leave it out to soften, just pop it in the microwave for about 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Vanilla: A quality vanilla really does elevate any recipe. Skip the imitation and use a quality vanilla extract instead.
  • Powdered Sugar: This is not to be confused with white sugar. It’s very finely milled and combined with a small amount of an anti clumping agent so that it appears like snow. It melts into the cream cheese to form the perfect creamy base to take on other flavors.
  • Milk or cream: The milk in this recipe is only used if you need to alter the consistency of the creamy base. You can use any type of unflavored milk or cream for this.
  • Cookies: Choose your favorite cookie to top this sweet dip. To crumble them, place them in a gallon freezer ziploc bag and give them a thump with the back of a large spoon until the pieces are the size you desire.

instructions:

Stick around to the end, and I’ll tell you what to serve with this dip.

  1. With a hand blender, mix together cream cheese and vanilla.
  2. Then slowly mix in the powdered sugar.
  3. Add a splash of milk as needed to reach the perfect consistency.
  4. Spread the mixture into the bottom of a pie dish.
  5. Top the mixture with the cookie crumbles of your choice. We like chocolate chip cookies for the flavor.

my recipe tips

  • From scratch: To save time, we chose to use pre-packaged cookies for this dip, but homemade ones would elevate this dip even more. I’m not a great baker. So, I turned to our friends at Pinch of Yum for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe.
  • Quantity or quality: If you’re serving this dip with more cookies, you can choose to reduce the amount of crushed cookies that you add to the top of the cream. Feel free to adjust it to your liking.
  • Cookie choice: We chose the classic chocolate chip cookies when making this dip, but other types of cookies would be equally delicious. Try double chocolate, peanut butter, butterscotch, oatmeal, or whatever kind of cookie is your favorite.

🍽️ serving ideas

There are lots of things that you can dip into this delicious cookies & milk dip, but we chose to serve it with even more cookies. You can also choose chocolate wafers, graham crackers or even these homemade donut holes. Dipping strawberries into this dip would also be absolutely delicious.

If you’re having a get together with lots of appetizers, this dip recipe is great alongside this smash burger dip and this bbq chicken dip. Then there will be a little something for everyone.

DATE NIGHT DIP

This is the kind of dip that I like to create for a cozy night in with the hubby. It goes together quickly and easily. Plus, the serving size is small, and it’s a light dip that we can enjoy without guilt that we’ll regret the calories the next day. Pair it with your favorite drink, like the super fun dirty sodas and other amazing mixed drinks over on Instagram with @ashleylaurentassano. Add a good movie, and you have the perfect date night in.

start with the right tools

The main kitchen tool that you’ll need to make this dip is a simple hand mixer. I think that we still have the one that we received as a wedding gift 30 years ago now. Those things last forever. However, if you’re looking to buy your first ever or just want an upgrade, check out THIS ONE or THIS ONE. They’re both reasonably priced, work great and add a little style to your dip making experience. Pair it with this set of mixing bowls that comes in a variety of colors.

do we have a preferred cream cheese brand?

Yes!!! I understand that this is a personal preference, but I always use Philadelphia cream cheese (even though Philly is our sports rival here in Pittsburgh). There’s just something about the taste. That being said, any cream cheese brand will work just fine. So, stick with your favorite brand when making this dip.

  • Tips: Check out my recipe tips above to help you get the best results for this super yummy dip.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers (if you even have any) covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as it may affect the texture.
  • Dip prep: You can prepare the base of this dip ahead of time and keep it in the fridge overnight. Wait until serving time to add the cookies to the top to avoid them getting soggy.
